Disability Awareness Behind & Beyond Our Prison Walls

Wednesday, October 20, 2021
4:00pm - 5:00pm ET

People with disabilities are dramatically overrepresented in our nation’s prisons and jails. According to the Bureau of Justice, almost 40% of people behind bars reported having at least one disability. This is approximately 2.5 times higher than the general adult population. Join us to explore best practices in working with individuals who have been involved in our justice systems who are facing and overcoming obstacles to learning and attaining employment. We’ll discuss how we can help those with disabilities behind and beyond our prison walls.

Join us in celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Special guests joining our open conversation will be Rose Warner from the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy and Sean Addie from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education.
