Veterans Apprenticeship Training Modules

Apprenticeship programs combine on-the-job experience and classroom training to prepare individuals for mastery of a given occupation. Registered Apprenticeship can be a particularly good match for veterans because the expectations, on-site mentorship, and team-based work environments mirror military training.

To increase the number of veterans with disabilities in Registered Apprenticeship programs, LEAD Center staff developed two recorded trainings for workforce staff. In these trainings, viewers gain a broader understanding of Registered Apprenticeship and realize the breadth of opportunities that exist and the wide range of apprenticeable careers. The trainings also explain how Registered Apprenticeship can offer a pathway for veterans to suitable, sustainable, and long-term careers. Importantly, the trainings provide information on how to connect partners to regional apprenticeship ecosystems. You can also hear interviews with apprentices and apprenticeship experts.

LEAD Center collaborated with the Office of Disability Employment Policy, the Veteran Readiness and Employment program in the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service and Office of Apprenticeship to develop the trainings.
