Governor’s Workforce Board RI Biennial Employment and Training Plan FY 18-19
~~“The Governor’s Workforce Board’s (GWB) Biennial Employment and Training Plan outlines Rhode Island’s path to employment
success by identifying overarching priorities aimed to increase the impact of workforce development services. The GWB was initially
established by the Rhode Island General Assembly in 2011(RIGL §42-102-9 (h)) and is charged as the lead convener and coordinator for all workforce development efforts in the state. The two previous plans identified the challenges felt from the lasting effects of the 2009 recession and identified strategies to get Rhode Islander’s back to work. The FY18/19 plan is part of a larger employment strategy that focuses on transparency around data accessibility. This plan is a working framework that uses data and insights in a visual and graphical way, resulting in a more accessible and actionable plan going forward. GWB invests in programs that enable Rhode Islanders to find a job, get a better job, and build a career. With informed decisions based on the most important and relevant data, the GWB is focused on advancing the skills of Rhode Islanders in order to match the need of employers and industries.”
