Michigan: MDHHS Launches New Mental Health Framework

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is launching a new approach to mental health care under Medicaid as part of its MIHealthyLife initiative.
The “Mental Health Framework” is designed to make care more person-centered and better coordinated by clearly outlining whether a Medicaid Health Plan or a Prepaid Inpatient Health Plan is responsible for an individual’s care, based on their level of mental health need.

Maryland: Report on Medical Assistance Program: Employed Individuals with Disabilities (2024)

In keeping with the requirements of SB 790/HB 822 – Md. Medical Assistance Program -Employed Individuals with Disabilities (Chs. 845 and 846 of the Acts of 2024), the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) respectfully submits this update on the Employed Individuals with Disabilities (EID) Program.
Specifically, this report details the feasibility of (1) further expanding EID Program eligibility to include individuals 65 and older, including options of eliminating or increasing the age cap with enrollment; and (2) establishing a premium contribution for EID Program services that is based solely on an applicant’s earned and unearned income.

Maryland SB 0790: Maryland Medical Assistance Program – Employed Individuals With Disabilities (2024)

Requiring the Maryland Department of Health to provide Maryland Medical Assistance Program services for individuals under the Employed Individuals with Disabilities Program in accordance with certain requirements; prohibiting the Department from limiting eligibility to receive services under the EID Program based on certain criteria; requiring the Department, on or before December 1, 2024, to submit a report to certain committees of the General Assembly on the impact of implementing an EID Program that serves certain individuals; etc.

Kentucky State Plan and Amendments

It gives assurance that Kentucky will abide by federal rules and may claim federal matching funds for its program. The state plan sets out groups to be covered, services, methodologies for reimbursing providers and state program administrative activities.

Kentucky 1915(i) RISE Initiative

The 1915(i) RISE Initiative is a Medicaid program that offers Recovery, Independence, Support, and Engagement to Kentuckians with serious mental illness (SMI). Through this program, eligible adults can access home and community-based services (HCBS) that support independent living, reduce reliance on institutional care, and promote long-term recovery.
