Arizona Executive Order 93-13: Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities (1993)

“I, Fife Symington, Governor of the State of Arizona, do hereby create a new Executive Order for the permanent establishment of the Governor’s committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities and delineate herein its purpose, structure and function… The Governor’s Committee On the Employment of People with Disabilities is established to promote the employment of people with disabilities; to promote the implementation of the Americans With Disabilities Act; and to promote a better quality of life for people with disabilities.”

Kentucky Executive Order 2020-552: Relating to the Employment First Council

“…NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andy Beshear, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Kentucky Constitution, Sections 69 and 81, and KRS 12.029, do hereby Order and Direct the following:

  1. It is the policy of the Commonwealth of Kentucky that competitive integrated employment in the community shall be considered the first and primary option for persons with disabilities of working age who desire to become employed.
  2. In furtherance of this policy, the Employment First Council is hereby authorized to serve as an advisory body of state government to pursue the purposes set forth in this Executive Order. This council shall be a collaborative body among individuals with family members who have disabilities, government agencies, and constituent employment groups who have an interest in employing individuals with a disability in a competitive integrated work environment.
  3. The Employment First Council is hereby charged to increase meaningful opportunities for competitive integrated employment for citizens with a disability seeking employment, regardless of their level of disability.”

Louisiana Executive Order 2020-8: Statewide Independent Living Council

Idaho Executive Order 2020-04: Creating the Idaho Behavioral Health Council (2020)

“NOW, THEREFORE, I, Brad Little, Governor of the State of Idaho, by virtue of the authority vested in me under the Constitution and the laws of the State of Idaho, do hereby establish the Idaho Behavioral Health Council (“Council”), and in so doing do also order that:
1. The scope and mission of the Council is to:
a. Bring together all three branches of state government, local governments and community partners to develop a recommended statewide strategic plan; and
b. Oversee the implementation of the approved statewide strategic plan, ensuring an effective, efficient, recovery-oriented behavioral healthcare system for all Idahoans in need of those services.”

Massachusetts Executive Order 598: Reaffirming and Reconstituting a Rehabilitation Advisory Council for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (2022)

…NOW, THEREFORE, I, Charles D. Baker, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution, Part 2, c. 2, § 1, Art. 1… order as follows:
Section 1. Reestablishing the Council
A Rehabilitation Advisory Council (“Council”) for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind is hereby reestablished on the updated terms specified below to participate in advising the Commission regarding its responsibilities for administering vocational rehabilitation services for persons who are blind, in compliance with the requirements of the Rehabilitation Act…
…(G) To advise the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind concerning coordination and establishment of working relationships between the Commission and the Statewide Independent Living Council and centers for independent living within Massachusetts…”

Louisiana Executive Order 2022-18: Statewide Independent Living Council

“WHEREAS, the State of Louisiana remains committed to promoting a philosophy of independent living in order to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence, and productivity of individuals with disabilities;

WHEREAS, the State of Louisiana also promotes the integration and full inclusion of individuals with disabilities into the mainstream of Louisiana’s communities;…

NOW THEREFORE, I, JOHN BEL EDWARDS, Governor of the State of Louisiana, by virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana, do hereby order and direct as follows: SECTION 1: The State of Louisiana’s Statewide Independent Living Council (hereafter “Council”) is reestablished and recreated, and recognized by the Governor, in accordance with 29 U.S.C.A. §796d. This Order does not remove those members who are currently serving on the Council pursuant to a valid appointment.”

Wisconsin Executive Order 157: Relating to the Creation of the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Veteran Opportunity (2022)

This executive order creates a commission that will gather input from stakeholders including employment and job training.

“Whereas, essential to ensuring the success of this Commission is the intentional involvement of veterans and their families, who having lived through these challenges, are best suited to provide insight and feedback on opportunities for improvement and coordination.”

 

Massachusetts Executive Order 606: Establishing Governor’s Council on Black Empowerment (2023)

“Section 1. The Governor’s Council on Black Empowerment (“Council”) is hereby established to advise the Governor and Lieutenant Governor on issues relating to the economic prosperity and well-being of the Black community living in Massachusetts.”

Massachusetts Executive Order 608: Establishing Governor’s Council on Latino Empowerment (2023)

“Governor Maura T. Healey issued an Executive Order establishing the Governor’s Council on Latino Empowerment and appointed more than 40 Latino leaders from across the state. This council will advise Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll on strategies to expand economic opportunities for and improve the overall wellbeing of Massachusetts’ Latino community.”

Maryland EO 01.01.2023.22: Governor’s Workforce Development Board

“Re-establishing Governors Workforce Development Board. New executive order on the governor’s workforce development board. Includes duties and responsibilities.

Workforce Development Board: The Board shall also include the following ex officio, non-voting members who are asked to serve in an advisory capacity and to partner on relevant initiatives of the Board: (a) The Secretary of Aging; (b) The Secretary of Service and Civic Innovation; (c) The Secretary of Disabilities;”
