This brief examines activities available to move people with disabilities receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to employment. The brief examines the opportunities and challenges experienced by state governments in creating supports and services, as well as outlines strategies and approaches being used by state TANF agencies to help recipients with disabilities secure and maintain employment. The NTAR Leadership Center (National Technical Assistance and Research Center to Promote Leadership for Increasing the Employment and Economic Independence of Adults with Disabilities) was a training and technical assistance center funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy.
