Job Accommodation Network’s (JAN) Accommodation and Compliance Series is designed to help employers determine effective accommodations that comply with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). Each publication in the series works to address a specific medical condition and what actions can be taken to accommodate for the condition. This publication answers frequently asked questions and seeks to clear confusion surrounding employers permitting the use of accrued paid leave, or providing unpaid leave, when an employee's disability necessitates it.
