The Affordable Care Act (ACA): What Are the Implications for the Employment of People with Disabilities?

Mathematica Policy Research - Center for Studying Disability Policy | David Stapleton
July 2011 | Presentation

This presentation, given at the 6th National Medicaid Conference, discusses the three major holes in healthcare financing for people with disabilities: employment disincentives/dependence initiatives, life events that lead to coverage gaps, and limitations of public coverage. The presentation explores how the Affordable Care Act will weaken the link between employment and private coverage, increase employer incentive to hire and retain workers with high health care costs, make it easer to obtain and access coverage and reduce transition issues for people with disabilities.
