  • Research critical resources that influence career choices for youth with disabilities, including work incentive/benefits counseling, disability-related work supports, accommodation requirements, and assistive technology needs.
  • Explore if state/local Workforce Development Boards have integrated financial capability as part of their WIOA Unified/Combined State Plan and/or if they fund financial literacy programs for youth and adults.
  • Identify the financial literacy providers available to youth enrolled in WIOA programs in your region.
  • Learn about the nine defined program elements in the WIOA Final Rule that describe financial literacy education activities (Section 20CFR681.500).
  • Learn if AJCs in your state offer financial services to job seekers, including budgeting support, financial planning, credit repair, and/or asset development.
  • Find out which community partners in your state/local region provide reputable, free, financial education resources and free tax preparation services.
  • Invite state/local financial partners to speak to the local workforce development board and AJC staff on how advancing financial capability can positively influence employment.
  • Find out if AJC Business Service or partner staff engage banks, credit unions, and/or housing lending programs that can offer financial literacy education for AJC customers.
  • Learn if your state or city has an asset-building coalition that offers financial capability trainings, informational resources, and services to AJC customers.
