At a time when nearly 57 million Americans have a disability - the largest minority in America - this October 2013 fact sheet provides a snapshot of the state of disability in America with regard to prevalence, wage and income disparity, poverty rate and much more.
While much progress has been made over the course of several generations, far too many people with disabilities continue to find it difficult to make ends meet and are not afforded the same opportunities as those without disabilities.
As reported by Half in Ten and highlighted by this fact sheet, there is a need for more work at all levels of government to ensure a more inclusive society for people living with disabilities.
